Convention on the Rights of the Child

1923 The drafting of the Declaration on the Rights of the Child by the League of Nations
September 26th 1924 The adoption by the League of Nations of the Geneva Declaration on the Rights of the Child
December 19th 1948 United Nations General Assembly approved the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 
1978  The drafting of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the government of Poland 
1979 United Nations set up a review committee on the draft and declared 1979 to be the International Year of the Child
November 20th 1989 The Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. November 20th is declared as Universal Children's Day.
September 2nd 1990 The Convention becomes part of International Law
April 19th 1991 The government of United Kingdom became a signatory to the Convention
August 29th 1991 The government of People’s Republic of China became a signatory to the Convention
December 16th 1991 The ratification of the Convention by the government of United Kingdom received at the United Nations
March 2nd 1992 The ratification of the Convention by the People’s Republic of China received at the United Nations
September 1994 The United Kingdom extended the ratification of the Convention to Hong Kong
September 1997 So far over 190 nations of the world have signed the Convention making it the most supported Convention in human history
